Authentic Art-making

Overview

Authentic art-making is not about style, technique, or originality for its own sake. It’s about truth. To create authentically is to work from a place of inner alignment, to allow the work to emerge from what matters most, even if it’s raw, strange, or difficult to name. This doesn’t mean being completely spontaneous or untrained. It means staying connected to what feels real, what moves you, and letting the work reflect that truth. For many artists, this means turning inward, listening to intuition, memory, and feeling. In Jungian terms, it is the act of letting the unconscious participate, of allowing symbols, instincts, and images to guide the process.
