Archetypes

Overview

Archetypes are universal patterns rooted in the collective unconscious. They shape the way we perceive stories, identities, and experiences across cultures. In art, archetypes appear as familiar roles such as the Hero, the Shadow, the Sage, and as felt presences guiding, challenging, transforming. Artists who explore archetypes more than depict them, they engage with their power. Whether consciously or not, these figures structure the emotional and symbolic layers of creative work. When we begin to recognise them, our practice deepens. We connect our personal themes with a wider narrative that echoes across time and place.
