Negative Space

What is Negative Space?

Negative space is the area around, between, or inside the subjects of an artwork. Far from being empty, it shapes perception, creates tension, and enhances balance. In many traditions, from Japanese ink painting to modern minimalism, negative space is considered just as meaningful as the object itself.

Colour + Emotion

Hi there,

Thanks for signing up! It’s lovely to have you here.

Art-Ed Hub is more than just a resource bank; it’s a growing space for creative inquiry, thoughtful teaching, and the kind of soulful exploration that often gets lost in the rush of curriculum and outcomes. Whether you’re here for the IB Visual Arts support, the creative prompts, or just a bit of inspiration, I hope you find something that resonates.

Every now and then, I’ll drop into your inbox with new resources, reflections, or behind-the-scenes updates. Nothing overwhelming, just things I genuinely think are worth sharing.

Warm wishes,
Nikki
